Ever wondered what a pyramid looked like 10 years (half way) into construction? We do actually know, because the pyramid of the pharaoh Djedefre was only half finished when he died early. Although smack-dab in the middle of the suburbs, the surrounding hilly terrain makes it invisible from the many freeways that now pass by it. And while it’s not open to the public, it’s possible (with help) to get a special permit to visit this one-of-a-kind place.

In one of the most creative and touching gestures of loyal customer appreciation that I’ve ever seen from a restaurant, I showed up to @sapporojap restaurant last night, which is in the @sheratoncairohotel near my apartment in Cairo, and the staff there presented me with a custom set of chopsticks engraved with my name on them. This was both touching and genius.
